About Art Morgan
Mr. Morgan was born in New York City and is a
product of Catholic Schools, The Merchant Marine Academy and the United
States Navy. He taught cross-country navigation as a flight instructor.
Following his military service he experienced a debilitating eye injury
in the 60’s. His doctor recommended a hiatus from work and to
aggressively pursue drawing to regain his depth perception. So he
studied art with Tom Fogerty at the Art Students League. Morgan’s
latent interest in art bloomed under Fogerty. Following his return to
work, Morgan continued his art studies at the State University of New
York in Purchase. He painted in acrylics and sold many works in the Op
Art style popular at that time. In the 70’s Morgan began painting
in a photo-realist style and had several showings in Fairfield County
in Connecticut.
Mr. Morgan has studied watercolors with Skip Lawrence, Don Stone, and Morgan Samuel Price.
After studying with Ted Goerschner and Kevin MacPherson, Morgan switched to oils and Impressionism.
Mr. Morgan is an alumnus of the Lyme Academy College of Fine Art.
